What We’ve Learned Since Launching Parenting Communities on VISIBLE

When we introduced Parenting Communities on VISIBLE, our goal was to make it easier for parents to connect with others who truly get their day-to-day experiences -whether that’s navigating life as a first-time parent, homeschooling, or raising twins.
Now that parents have been using the feature, we’re seeing patterns emerge that offer real insight into what today’s parents are looking for when they come to VISIBLE.
Here’s what the data* tells us:
1. Parents Want to Connect With Other Parents - Not Just Organizations
The most frequently searched "type" filter is overwhelmingly "parents." This suggests that parents are primarily looking for resources or communities related to parenting, rather than organizations. The desire to connect, relate, and swap advice is clear.
2. Parents Prefer Browsing vs Keyword Searching
Most parents are not entering specific keywords in the search bar. They are relying entirely on filters to narrow down their results. Parents are browsing by category rather than searching with precision -and that’s shaping how we think about organizing and surfacing content on VISIBLE moving forward.
3. Homeschoolers Are Consistently Engaged
“Homeschool” appears in searches on multiple days, not just in occasional spikes. This tells us there’s a consistent demand for content and community centered on homeschooling. It’s not a fringe topic -it’s a meaningful community we’ll continue to support and grow.
4. Age Filters Matter (A Lot)
For parents using the platform, age is a key detail. Filters for ages 1–2 and 2–3 are among the most frequently applied. This makes sense: parenting a toddler is vastly different from parenting a preschooler, and parents want to connect with others who are in the same stage.
5. Parents Will Scroll (A Long Way) to Find the Right Match
We’ve seen parents click through as many as 13 pages of search results when looking under “parents” with age filters. This kind of deep browsing tells us that users are looking for something very specific -or that our results can be more targeted. It’s a signal we’re using to improve future updates.
6. First-Time Parents Are Looking for Each Other
The “First time parent” community is a standout. Parents search for this category on its own, in combination with age filters, and even under organizations- confirming that this group is actively seeking connections and resources tailored to the early stages of parenting.

7. Searches Often Start Broad, Then Narrow
We’ve observed that many parents begin with a general search (like “parents”) and then add community filters such as LGBTQIA+ or Single Parent. They often go a step further by filtering based on their child’s age. This layered approach shows that parents want to find others who share multiple aspects of their parenting experience.
8. Organizations Play a Different Role
While searches for “organizations” do occur, they’re less frequent and usually less detailed. These parents seem to be browsing for general options rather than something highly specific, suggesting that the role of organizations on VISIBLE may be more informational than relational.
What This Means for VISIBLE
This early data validates the vision behind our Parenting Community feature: parents don’t just want information - they want relevant, peer-driven connection. We’re using these insights to make VISIBLE even more useful, personalized, and efficient for the parents who rely on it to grow their network and find answers.
More improvements are on the way. If you haven’t explored Parenting Communities yet, now’s the time to dive in — you might just find the exact parent connection you didn’t know you needed.
